Aloha

The word ‘Aloha’ itself is imbued with layers of meaning. It can be a greeting, or a friendly parting, and encompasses meanings of love, affection, kindness, generosity in spirit and giving. It also embodies a way of life, that includes caring for each other and living in a spirit of positivity, compassion, kindness, generosity, gratitude, reverence for what we’ve been given and a sense of connection with others and the land.

‘Living with Aloha’, or the spirit of Aloha, becomes a way of life for those from the islands. It involves taking time for meaningful conversations, supporting local businesses, giving to those in need and taking care of those around you.

Interestingly, ‘living with Aloha’, correlates with much of what has been found in the field of positive psychology to be important in developing greater happiness and well-being in life. In Hawaiian, ‘Alo’ means face and ‘Ha’ means breath. The translation of ‘Aloha’ is literally to stand face to face with someone and share the same breath; the essence of the meaningful relationship as discussed in positive psychology.

Aloha as a word itself evokes feelings of happiness. It is as though the word carries with it all that is meant by ‘living with Aloha’. The program is designed with the thought of bringing the spirit of Aloha, as a way of life and practice and feeling, back home, and into your life, with you.

It is this spirit, and way of being, that is Hawaii’s great gift to the world. Let us help bring the spirit of Aloha into your life, with you.

Programs can be designed for a morning, afternoon or as part of a day’s itinerary, culminating in an evening of island-inspired cuisine, blessing, music and hula. On the Big Island, venues include Makani Ua Ranch and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Programs can also be brought to the property at which you are staying.

Programs can also be designed and brought to your home, wherever that may be. Events and travel can also be planned independent of the program, woven with a touch of Aloha.
